from Kevin White, ADF&G "Thanks for the info about moose #76. That one is called “Cedar” and is the daughter of “Spruce” (#9). They both migrate over to Pleasant island in the summer. Cedar is a 2-yr old now. In the past we have often found Spruce hanging around your [Ula's] neighborhood quite frequently—perhaps, you remember her?"
Thank you, Kevin, for commenting on our picture. May we ask you some questions? Why do moose go over to Pleasant Island? What do they eat? Do they migrate there to give birth? Do moose swim over there when they are pregnant? How many moose migrate to Pleasant Island? Do they eat the same thing deer eat? How long have they been migrating to Pleasant Island? Did #9's mother migrate there too?
Welcome to the Gustavus 4th & 5th grade blog! The 4th & 5th grade will be posting information about their year-long scientific study on this blog. After each field trip that they take they will post a field report with some photos and questions. Occasionally, other work will be posted too! Comments and questions from followers are appreciated.
