The 3-5th grade standing where they figured Pluto (smaller than a pinhead) would be if the sun (a soccer ball) was at the crosswalk in front of the school. Each pace that they took was approximately one yard which equaled approximately 3,600,000 miles. They had to walk over half a mile from the sun to Pluto! They learned that our solar system is enormous and that to create a model of it (to scale) you would need a lot of room!Wednesday, April 7, 2010
